I think the poem means that what you try doing, you might end up succeeding. If you try as hard or as best as you could, then it might turn out the way you want it to be. I think that this poem is mostly saying believe in yourself. In everything you should believe that you can succeed in it and get it done that right way.

If you think you are beaten, you are, 

     

                If you think you dare not, you don't. 

         If you like to win, but you think you can't, 

                    It is almost certain you won't.

                If you think you'll lose, you're lost, 

                   For out in the world we find,

                 Success begins with a fellow's will.

                          It's all in the mind. 

   

             If you think you are outclassed, you are,

                   You've got to think high to rise,

              You've got to be sure of yourself before

                       You can win the prize.

                     Life's battles don't always go

                   To the stronger or faster man.

              But soon or late the man who wins, 

                    Is the man who thinks he can.

     

     

You go to Red Lobster's to eat and spend $125 and the waitress was great and you want to leave her a nice tip.  The general tip is 15% you want to leave a 20% tip ?

 Because it asks you questions just like the TAKS would ask you. The same way and almost the same question.
